I thought, “I’ll bet this flop, but if I get a call, I’ll have to dodge some serious scare cards to continue betting.” Screech! Brakes applied.
(Ks6c) I had a nice draw by the turn, so I kept betting, but I’d been so tight, I figured this guy had to give me credit, as I’d been extremely passive heads up against him many times, and hadn’t been raising at all the whole session.
Worst call I’ve made on cake in a while. As orange belt as it comes. I had been playing such careful poker, and then I call off all my chips on a scary board when I can only beat top pair. This is the kind of move I look for in others.
Took a break, rebought, and made another questionable call for all my chips, although not as bad as the one above. I’ve been playing some horrible poker this past week, like, everywhere. My Cake problem is that I’m slipping into treating no-noters as if they are donks again, effectively turning me into the donk. I can only imagine some of the notes I have generated from others with my play this past week. But I’m turning it around right now.

(KQo) The turnaround starts with me learning to fold again, even if put some money in.
(KQhh) Sigh. But see? FOLDING top pair when two draws get there and I’m facing a raise. I can do this…
Lost another couple unexciting pots, adding on.

(QQ) This guy was looking to donate. Could feel the K coming, Martin style. (lost the hand history, but got all in pf against a short stack with KXo, and got cracked by a river king.)

Short stack maniac gave a little back, but I still end up down.

It’s been a sucky week for my challenge, but I am going to play disciplined, straightforward poker today, and I am going to treat unknown opponents as though they are not donks until they show me otherwise. This is my daily affirmation.
I am going to sacrifice some note-taking to two-table it while I multitask at home.
(AQo) My claims of discipline were put to the test immediately. Check out that pf laydown at .02/.04, baby!
(AA) Tight, straightforward poker. Yup. And no tilting, either. Next!
(AQs) Against AKo and AJo.
+$1 on table 1
+$1 on table 2
(QdJc) From sb, limped. Again with the no-fun discipline, folding after making two-pair on the four-straight board.
I think later on I want to try playing as many as 4-6 tables, but strictly aggro-premium playing, potentially with short stacks.
(JsTh) Another tough pot and tough fold.
(JTo) My third JTo in a row, all with similar results.

(KQs) Was seriously forgetting what it felt like to hit a draw and win. I felt behind on the turn, but it was an inconsequential call with the diamonds alone.
(JJ) Pot+ pr raise, and what a lovely flop with two callers! Couldn’t fold fast enough.
(AQo) Next hand. No raise OOP, let’s see a flop. A tantalizing turn, but ultimately an easy fold.
(KQo) Debated both the pf raise and the c-bet. I’m beating nothing on the river and let it go to the 1/3rd-pot bet.
OK, football game is almost over. Final orbit, unchecking the auto-post buttons.
(QQ) lol, nice last hand. That’s the best thing to happen to any premium poacket pair I’ve had in a week, I think.

Wow…0/1 showdowns won, 0 of 0 other wins, 10% non-blind flops seen.

3/5 Showdowns, 5/5 other wins, 15% non-blind flops seen.
Tight, unlucky, and card-dead all at once on two tables! Losing a few bucks with sensible play and bad luck feels way better than orange belting away 2+ buyins on some awful calls.
OK, kids are in bed, here we go again. One-tabling while I play Mass Effect.
(A9o) Thought he might be min-raising with two pair, and when I hit my two pair, I let him bet it for me. A mistake, though, I should have bet despite my good read that he would do it for me. If he was going to bet for me, he’d certainly call a shove.
Table is shrinking, I like ‘em full so I can concentrate on my Mass Effect. Moving. With sugar! Weird.

(KQs) So yeah, this is the kind of run the Rules protect against right? Right.
(AJo) And a little insult the next hand.

Added on, played solid, took down a couple but nothing big.

Well, I just entered all of this into my spreadsheet, and seeing the whole curve of the graph helps my mental state right now. It feels like I’m on this unstoppable slide, but relative to the whole journey, it’s just a little stumble. I think I will be playing less through the holidays, though, it’s all getting crazy busy and I have some other games asking for my attention. I’ll see if I can come up with a Mass Effect graph.
