Playing for $4 at the .02/.04 for about 2% of my roll is affecting my play, I’m being too loose and making silly calls I know are EV- because hey, it’s a guy whose stack is under 1% of my roll and it would be fun to make a Jasonland runner-runner straight flush draw, and hey, I’m EV+ at these stakes even with those bad plays!
So, I’m moving back up tonight: an $8 buy at .05/.10 to put some healthy fear back into me. I don’t want to be scared money, but the blatant orange belting has to stop.
(JJ) It was s risky raise on the flop given how I talk about the lower fold equity at microstakes, but it felt like a blocking or probe bet, both of which I should raise. I had also been playing so tightly, folding from the SB with lots of limpers, etc., I just had to rep the good ace and see if I had earned any respect.
(AQh) Poker is easy. OK, that was a loose call given no book, but I was sooooted. I figured the dead money made flipping a coin correct, but it was no flip. AQ rules!
(88) I put him on two overs and felt good, but didn’t want to overplay either. His calldown with AQo gets him a note. I seem to be sparring with this guy a lot.
(AcAd) I thought the BB would likely fold, and the UTG limper had a small stack if he called, so it felt like a good spot to smooth call pf with aces.
$8 --> $11.52
