Brad is on Cake! As I sat down at the table, I saw “sleepcamel,” playing, which was obviously our former SLP compatriot. As I began to compose a chat to call him out, he hit quad jacks and got paid! Nice. Apparently Brad has joined the Cake Challenge?
AcJc – You know, I think if I wasn’t suited, I would have folded preflop and stayed out of trouble. I raise the flop to find out how good I am, but the villain’s call/lead out after being the preflop aggressor sure felt like an overpair, especially from this particular player, who isn’t a donk in my experience. Getting to know the regulars and taking notes is important. I push against much of the microstakes competition, but I fold to this guy.
I had wondered as the hand ended if I’d gotten the max out of that hand, since my usual policy is to hammer monsters and get paid. Then I check the history, and villain had K4!
I made my turn bet with Ks7s very reluctantly, not believing it would actually take it down. It did, but I’m not sure I like that play as a general practice at microstakes. Too often, I’ll get called, miss, and have a difficult river. I did have the button, though, and that’s the balancing factor, here. Not an advisable move with two or more people left to act in a six-handed pot, but worth a try in late position and no apparent interest from anyone else.
Jh8h – You just have to play it right.
Interesting session. I got all in against one short stack, but other than that, very grindy poker, no big pots, just a bunch of small ones with no costly mistakes.
